BRINGING THE PAST TO LIFE IN THE HIGHLANDS

The Society’s speakers this week- Jamie Gaukroger of ‘Am Baile’ and Lorna Steele-McGinn of the ‘Highland Archive Centre’ – will tell the story of these two important services. The meeting will take place on Friday, December 2nd in the CAMERON YOUTH CENTRE, Planefield Road, Inverness, starting at 7p.m. All are welcome.

DUNCAN STEWART OF BALQUIDDER - AND REVOLUTIONARY HAITI

“For nearly two centuries he has been described as the doctor with the Highland name at the heart of the world’s greatest slave revolution. But there is little or no trace of Duncan Stewart in the Scottish archives …”

This is the starting point for Iain Fraser Grigor’s talk to the Society on Friday October 14th (starting at 7.30pm).

The first talk in the Gaelic Society’s 2022-23 programme will take place on Friday 23rd September at 7.30pm in the St Andrew’s Cathedral Community Hall, 11 Kenneth Street, Inverness.

The speaker is Dr Ben Thomas and his subject is: "Empire, culture, and society in the late-nineteenth century Highlands and Islands".
